IGN has just unveiled a teaser trailer for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, starring Johnny Depp, Mia Wasikowska, Michael Sheen, Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway. I'm particularly curious and interested in Mia Wasikowska, who bested a lot of aspiring young actresses for the lead role of Alice. - - -
- - - American TV audiences will remember Mia for her performance in HBO's In Treatment, playing Sophie, an aspiring Olympic gymnast who is sent to Gabriel Byrne's psychotherapist following an accident which is suspected to have been a suicide attempt. She followed that up with supporting roles in several films - She played the role of Elinor Smith, a young woman hoping to follow in the footsteps of Amelia Earhart in Amelia, starring Hillary Swank. Wasikowska also appeared in Defiance with Daniel Craig, as well as in the indie film That Evening Sun with Hal Holbrook. [ Mia Wasikowska is currently ranked #27 in the Top 30 Hottest Young Actresses list ] Watch the teaser trailer after the jump! - - -
- - - From her previous movies and my impression just watching the teaser trailer, I find Mia Wasikowska to be an exciting new face to watch. There is this combination of carefree innocence and fierce determination, two things I have to say about her. With Burton at the helm, I'm quite sure, Wasikowska is quite driven and inspired to give her best. Depp, as usual, delivers an awesome performance. The teaser trailer has shown enough of what we can expect from Depp, and I'm not disappointed, not at all.
